Ironmongers Extraordinary is a friendly, family run specialist cookware shop, which I have been running for thirty seven years. I have always had a passion for cooking! My interest in the creative process was ignited by watching, and learning from my Mother and Aunts. Later I acquired further knowledge and skills from such icons as Julia Childs, Elizabeth David and Delia Smith.

Working in the shop, "hands on", listening carefully and patiently to customer's requirements, I have learned to assist cooks, from the novice enthusiast to the semi professional home chef, in making the right choice for them, "the right tools for the job" as it were. I always advise the chef to choose the knife which suits their unique hand size and grip. We have an extensive range of kitchen knives from highly regarded brands such as Wustof, Global, Victorinox and of course Lion Sabatier, in sizes from 20cm - 14cm, allowing the chef a wide range of grip sizes to choose from. So, whether you are filleting or chopping, you are sure to do so successfully and comfortably!

From our beautiful eighteenth century premise, situated in the picturesque, & historical Cinque Port town of Rye, with its quaint cobbled streets, we are able to provide an array of cookware, glassware, ovenware, tableware and some unexpected gadgets to help make your cooking time a pleasure!

My two members of staff, Iris and Nigel, are warm, friendly and highly knowledgeable and have been with me for twenty seven and fifteen years respectively. They have helped me run and build my business over the years and are happy to help and advise in any way they can. We actively encourage our customers to handle their chosen product, to make sure they are happy with it before they purchase. We are also very happy to demonstrate our products - our wide selection of salt and pepper mills with all their various settings never fail to impress!

Our ranges of saucepans (including those for induction hobs), frying pans, casseroles, baking and roasting equipment caters for the discerning home chef. With our three intercommunicating rooms and basement room, you will find Ironmongers Extraordinary an "Aladdin's Cave", with its baskets bursting with all sorts of desirables, our shelves with sparkling glassware from LSA and Le Crueset ovenware, along with fine French porcelain, from mugs to champagne flutes, cafetiers to tea pots, fish kettles to steamers, griddles to milk pans, spatulas to whisks, roasting bricks to jelly moulds... You get the idea! We are sure you will find exactly whatever your heart's desire here at No. 1 High Street, Rye, East Sussex.
